It's important to look after and maintain the condition of your tyres as they play an important role in keeping you safe. We advise that you check your tyres carefully for low tread depth, bulges, cracks, uneven wear and inflation levels.

Tyre Labelling - What you need to know

Tyre Labelling

As of 1 November 2012, all passenger tyres sold in the European Union must be labelled with an official EU tyre label.

This label contains information about three important criteria that form the basis for evaluating tyre performance: wet grip, fuel efficiency and exterior noise.

Check your tread depth

The minimum legal limit is 1.6mm but anything under 3mm can compromise your safety. Use a tread gauge or if you have premium tyres, the manufacturer will have moulded a tread wear indicator into the tread pattern. Remember to check all your tyres!

Check your tyre pressure

If your tyres aren't correctly inflated, it can cause uneven wear and can also affect the handling, stability and braking. You can check what pressure your tyres need to be by consulting your vehicle's handbook or there may be a label on the inside of the driver's door stating the correct pressures.

You will also find that petrol stations with air/water machines will provide a chart so that you can see what the correct pressure is supposed to be for your make/model of vehicle.
